The unprecedented possibilities of Solid Surface
Are you looking for a versatile material that lets your creativity run wild? Then Solid Surface is the perfect answer. With the thermoformable Solid Surface you can easily create complex 3D shapes for your custom interior. In this blog we will tell you more about the properties and interior applications of Solid Surface.
What is Solid Surface?
Solid Surface is a solid, non-porous material consisting of a combination of aluminum tri-hydroxide (ATH), acrylic and color pigments. The material offers many possibilities for creative and functional interior applications.
To make a slab, the three ingredients are mixed first. The liquid mixture is then poured onto a conveyor belt and pressed, then heated and cooled. The result is a hardened and homogeneous sheet that can be processed into different shapes and sizes.
Benefits of Solid Surface
Solid Surface is known for a number of qualities:
- Non-porous and homogeneous: the material does not allow bacteria and chemicals to pass through, making it very hygienic and easy to clean.
- Thermoformable: under heat, Solid Surface can be bent into complex 3D shapes.
- Seamless: sheets can be glued together seamlessly, creating a sleek and uniform whole.
- Impact and scratch resistant: the material resists daily wear and tear and signs of use well, giving it a long lifespan.

Solid Surface in interiors
Solid Surface offers a world of possibilities. Because the material is thermoformable, you can easily create complex 3D shapes. As a result, the material lends itself perfectly to various interior applications. Whether you want to create a counter with atmospheric lighting effects, a kitchen that meets high hygiene requirements or subtly conceal wireless charging points in a gigantic table.
That's not to say that you can blindly apply Solid Surface to your interior. If you want to use the material in your interior, there are a number of things to consider. For example, Solid Surface is not suitable for use in steam showers, saunas or swimming pools. In addition, dark and highly pigmented colors show signs of use faster when applied horizontally.
